The Navigator was developed especially to get students used to the capabilities and flight characteristics of modern parachutes quicker. So far student canopies have been simply large and sluggish and took the responsibility for the flight off the student. With the Navigator students can develop easier the feel for the flight and they learn more effectively how a parachute reacts on steering inputs.
The Navigator flies quite swift, it is easy to control but has not more forward speed than a student canopy should have. Its combination of a wide toggle control range and its aversion to go past the stall point make the Navigator a save but powerful student canopy. It is as easy to pack as a F-111 canopy. It is constructed for a long life expectancy with reinforcements of the important areas.
